A series of plane table sheets depicting Captain Maud's journey from Lake Zwai in south-western Abyssinia 650 miles southwards to Lake Baringo in north-western British East Africa as part of a preliminary border survey. Portrays hydrology, relief by form lines and spot heights, roads and tracks, settlements, the expedition route, survey stations and sight lines, and includes topographical notes. .Survey of India surveyors Sher Jang (also known as Sher Jung, and recorded on 11 sheets) and Shahzad Mir also contributed to the survey. Sheets are numbered 1 to 22; another is lettered 'D'; and another, imperfect on transfer, is of indeterminate designation. Another unnumbered sheet covers the same geographical extent as Sheet 1, although the survey detail is different. There is also a supplementary sheet to Sheet 5.Sheets 1 (both versions) and D contain an index to numbered points, some with heights.Some heights on Sheet 1 (both versions) are taken from an earlier survey by Brevet Major C.W. Gwynn R.E.
